How to Create and Manage Clips in BallerCam

BallerCam makes it easy to turn important moments from your games into clips that you can watch, organize, download, and share.

You can manually create a clip while watching a game or replay, tag players and play types, control who can view it, and manage saved clips from your team's Clips section. 

✂️ What Are Clips?

Clips are shorter video segments created from a BallerCam game.

You can use clips to save moments such as:

• Goals
• Made shots
• Great defensive plays
• Assists
• Saves
• Highlights
• Player-specific moments
• Other important plays from the game

After creating a clip, you can watch it, share it, download it, edit its details, or delete it when it's no longer needed.

🎬 Ways to Create a Clip

You can manually create a clip while watching a game in either portrait or landscape orientation.

📱 Portrait Mode

While watching the game in portrait mode:

1. Open the game or replay.
2. Find the moment you want to save.
3. Tap the scissors icon below the video player.

This opens the clip creation tool. 

📺 Landscape Mode

While watching in landscape mode:

1. Open the game or replay.
2. Navigate to the moment you want to save.
3. Tap Clips with the scissors icon in the lower-right area of the player.

You can then begin creating your clip. 

✂️ How to Create a Clip

Once you've opened the clip creation tool:

1. Choose the Moment

Use the timeline or slider to select the section of video you want included.

Adjust the:

• Start time
• End time

until the clip contains the play or moment you want to save.

2. Preview Your Clip

Review the selected section before continuing.

Make sure the clip includes enough video before and after the main action so viewers can understand what happened.

When you're satisfied with the timing, tap Next. 

👤 Tag Players

You can optionally associate the clip with one or more players from your team's roster.

Player tags make it easier to connect clips with the athletes involved in the play.

If the clip isn't specific to one player, you can continue without adding a player tag.

🏷️ Tag the Play Type

You can also add a play-type tag when applicable.

Tagging helps describe what happened in the clip and keeps your team's video content better organized.

Player and play-type tags are optional.

🔒 Choose Clip Privacy

Before saving, choose who can access the clip.

Available privacy options include:

• Public link — the clip can be viewed using its shared link
• Visible to you only — keeps the clip private to your account

Choose the option that works best for the content you're creating. 

🔐 Change Visibility for Multiple Moments

To update several Moments together, select the Moments you want to change and apply the available visibility option.

Private clips display a private badge. If some updates fail, review the results and retry the Moments that were not updated.

💾 Save Your Clip

After reviewing the clip timing, tags, and privacy:

1. Tap Save.
2. Allow BallerCam to finish creating the clip.
3. Open the completed clip when it's ready.

Your saved clip can then be accessed from your team's Clips experience. 

📂 Where to Find Your Clips

The BallerCam navigation now includes a dedicated Clips section within each team.

To find clips for a specific team:

1. Open BallerCam.
2. Tap Teams.
3. Select the team.
4. Tap Clips.

Current team navigation is organized into:

• Overview
• People
• Games
• Clips

This replaces the older standalone Clips tab that appeared in the app's main bottom navigation.

🏠 Clips and Highlights on Global Home

BallerCam can also surface relevant Clips and Highlights directly on Global Home.

Global Home brings together content from across the teams and athletes you follow, so you may see recently created or relevant clips without opening an individual team first. 

Favorite Athlete cards may also surface:

• Games
• Clips
• Moments

Selecting an athlete opens that athlete's profile.

You can also access team clips from BallerCam on the web.

Open your team and go to its Clips section to review available video clips. 

▶️ What You Can Do With a Saved Clip

Once a clip has been created, you can use the available controls to:

• Watch the clip
• Share it
• Download it to your Camera Roll
• Edit the clip
• Delete the clip
• Like the clip
• Add a comment

You can manage clip activity notifications in your notification settings. When enabled, tapping a notification opens the relevant clip. You can also like and comment on Clip of the Week.

🔗 Share a Clip

To share a saved clip:

1. Open the clip.
2. Tap the Share icon.
3. Choose how you'd like to share it.

You can send the clip link to family, teammates, coaches, or others using the available sharing options.

Remember that the clip's privacy setting affects who can view it. 

📥 Download a Clip

You can save a completed clip to your iPhone's Camera Roll.

1. Open the clip.
2. Select the available Download option.
3. Allow the clip to save to your device.

Downloaded clips can then be used outside BallerCam for supported sharing or editing workflows. 

✏️ Edit a Clip

If you need to make changes after saving:

1. Open the clip.
2. Tap the pencil icon.
3. Update the available clip details.

You can edit information such as:

• Clip timing
• Player tags
• Privacy

Save your changes when you're finished. Your saved start and end points and selected replay view are preserved when you edit other details. Custom tags remain separate from play types.

When a Moment is processed again after an edit, its privacy setting is preserved. If saving fails, retry and confirm your changes were saved before leaving.

🗑️ Delete a Clip

If you no longer need a clip:

1. Open the clip.
2. Select the available delete option.
3. Confirm that you want to remove it.

Be sure you no longer need the clip before deleting it.

📱 Portrait Plays

After HD upload and processing, supported Basketball, Volleyball, and Flag Football clips can be viewed as Portrait Plays—a vertical format that's easy to share on social media.

⚽🏀 Auto-Generated Clips

Not every clip has to be created manually.

BallerCam can also generate clips from supported real-time scoring events.

For example:

• Soccer scoring events can generate scoring-based clips.
• Basketball scoring entered in real time from a secondary device can automatically create clips for those plays.
• Lacrosse goals can generate scoring-based highlights.
• Flag Football / 7v7 supports clips from recorded scoring plays.

These clips make it easier to jump directly to important scoring moments without manually searching through the full replay.

📍 Moments

BallerCam's Moments feature provides another way to mark important points during a game.

Moments can help identify plays you may want to return to later when reviewing the game or creating clips.

This is especially useful when something important happens but you don't want to stop watching the action to create a complete clip immediately.

💡 Best Practices

For better clips:

• Create clips after the game's video has finished processing when possible.
• Include a few seconds before the main action so viewers can see how the play developed.
• Include enough time after the play to capture the result.
• Tag the correct player when the clip highlights a specific athlete.
• Add an appropriate play type when available.
• Review your privacy setting before sharing.
• Use your team's Clips section to keep video content organized.
• Use scoring and Moments during live games to make important plays easier to find afterward.
• Review the clip before saving to make sure the start and end points are correct.
