BallerCam supports Ice Hockey with AI-powered auto-panning, sport-specific scoring, player statistics, and Moments.
You can film or livestream your games, keep score through periods, overtime, and shootouts, and credit goals and up to two assists to players.
🏒 Setting Up Your Ice Hockey Team
When creating your team in BallerCam, select Ice Hockey as the sport.
Before your first game:
- Add your players to the roster.
- Check player names and jersey numbers.
- Confirm who will film and who will keep score.
- Make sure the scorekeeper has Keep Score permission for the team.
Preparing your roster ahead of time makes it easier to credit goals and assists during the game.
📍 Positioning BallerCam at the Rink
Your camera position helps BallerCam follow the action and keep both ends of the rink visible.
Center Your Position
Set up along the side of the rink, aligned with the center red line, approximately 6–8 feet back from the boards.
Avoid placing BallerCam where spectators, benches, glass supports, or other objects block the view.
Raise Your Camera
Aim for a camera height of 10–12 feet.
When possible, position the camera above the glass for a clearer view. If you need to film through glass, choose a clean panel with minimal marks, reflections, and obstructions.
Adjust the Tilt
Tilt the camera approximately 10–25 degrees downward, adjusting for your tripod height and distance from the boards.
Check that the camera can see:
- Both goals.
- The action at both ends of the rink.
- Play along the near boards.
Test Before the Game
Run a short recording before play begins. Review the framing and adjust your position if glass supports, reflections, or other obstructions interfere with the view.
Secure your tripod and keep the area around it clear.
🎥 Filming or Livestreaming an Ice Hockey Game
To film with BallerCam, use a supported iPhone 13 Pro or newer, the correct phone adapter, and the BallerCam app.
- Set up BallerCam at the recommended rink position.
- Open the BallerCam app and select your Ice Hockey team.
- Tap Film Game, or open the scheduled game you want to film.
- Choose Live Stream to broadcast while recording, or Record Only to record without going live.
- Follow the matchup and filming setup prompts.
- Check the camera view before starting.
- Tap Go Live for a livestream or Start Recording for Record Only.
BallerCam’s AI auto-panning follows the flow of play while the filming setup stays in position.
Recording Without Internet
Record Only can work offline if you signed in to BallerCam before losing connectivity.
The recording is saved on the filming iPhone. Upload it later when you have a reliable internet connection so other viewers can watch the replay.
📲 Keeping Score From a Secondary iOS Device
Using a secondary iOS device lets another person keep score while the filming iPhone remains mounted.
The scorekeeper should:
- Install the BallerCam app on a supported iOS device.
- Sign in to their BallerCam account.
- Confirm they have access to the team and Keep Score permission.
- Find the game in progress on Global Home.
- Tap Keep Score and follow the game settings prompts.
The filming iPhone minimum does not apply to the secondary scoring device. Older supported iPhones and iPads can keep score as long as they can run the BallerCam app.
Use a reliable internet connection for live scoring from a secondary device.
Only one phone can film the same scheduled livestream. Other supported devices can still be used to keep score, mark Moments, and watch.
🥅 Recording Goals and Assists
BallerCam’s Ice Hockey scoring supports periods, overtime, and shootouts.
Review the available game settings before scoring begins so they match the game being played.
When a goal is scored:
- Record the goal for the correct team.
- Select the player who scored, when player attribution is available.
- Credit up to two assisting players, when applicable.
- Check that the score and player selections are correct.
Keep the current period or game stage updated as play progresses.
Accurate player attribution helps connect each player’s contributions with their game statistics.
⭐ Using Moments for Ice Hockey
Use Moments to mark important action that may not result in a goal.
For example, you might mark:
- A key save.
- A breakaway.
- A strong defensive play.
- A faceoff win.
- A memorable passing sequence.
- Another play you want to review or share.
Mark the Moment as the action happens so it is easier to find the correct part of the recording later.
These are examples of plays you can bookmark; marking a Moment does not automatically record a corresponding player statistic.
📊 Ice Hockey Player Statistics
BallerCam supports player statistics for Ice Hockey.
Assign goals and assists to the correct players while keeping score to help build an accurate record of their contributions.
For more useful statistics:
- Prepare your roster before the game.
- Verify player names and jersey numbers.
- Credit the correct scorer and assisting players.
- Review recorded scoring information for mistakes.
📤 Ending the Game and Uploading Your Recording
When filming is finished, follow the prompts to stop and end the game. Allow BallerCam to finish finalizing the recording.
If you end the game while offline, reconnect later so the completion information can sync.
Upload the HD recording from the iPhone that filmed the game. For Record Only games, uploading is required before other viewers can watch the replay.
Confirm that the uploaded replay is available before removing the local recording.
