BallerCam uses AI-powered tracking to automatically follow the action while you film, so you do not need someone manually operating the camera throughout the game.
The system combines BallerCam's 180-degree ultra-wide-angle view with sport-specific AI that tracks gameplay and automatically adjusts the camera view as the action moves.
π€ How AI Tracking Works
While you film, BallerCam analyzes the game in real time to help keep the action in frame.
Depending on the sport and filming setup, the AI can:
- Follow the flow of play
- Automatically pan as the action moves
- Adjust zoom when needed
Help keep players and the ball or puck within the viewing area
- Create a smoother, more watchable game experience
This allows the filming iPhone to stay mounted on BallerCam while the software handles the camera movement for you.
π Supported Sports
BallerCam's AI auto-panning currently supports:
- Basketball
- Soccer
- Futsal
- Volleyball
- Flag Football / 7v7 Football
- Lacrosse
Ice Hockey
BallerCam's tracking is optimized for the movement and gameplay of each supported sport.
π₯ AI Tracking for Lacrosse
BallerCam's AI tracking is specifically tuned for Lacrosse.
Set up BallerCam along the sideline with a clear view of the field, and the camera automatically pans and zooms to follow the flow of play.
Lacrosse also includes sport-specific features such as scoring, goal and assist attribution, automatic goal highlights, Moments, and player stats.
π AI Tracking for Ice Hockey
BallerCam supports Ice Hockey with AI-powered auto-panning to follow the action across the rink.
For the best results:
- Position BallerCam along the side of the rink, aligned with the center red line.
- Set up approximately 6β8 feet back from the boards, with the camera 10β12 feet high.
- Position above the glass when possible. If filming through glass, choose a clear panel with minimal reflections and no supports blocking the view.
- Tilt the camera approximately 10β25 degrees downward and check both goals and the near boards before recording.
Ice Hockey also supports scoring through periods, overtime, and shootouts, player attribution for goals and up to two assists, player statistics, and Moments.
π AI Tracking for Flag Football & 7v7
BallerCam also supports AI auto-panning for Flag Football and 7v7 Football.
For the best results, position BallerCam near the sideline around midfield with a clear, elevated view of the field.
Flag Football auto-panning is currently in beta and continues to improve.
BallerCam's football tracking is currently designed for Flag Football and 7v7 and is not supported for tackle football.
π What About Pickleball?
Pickleball is currently supported in the Philippines and India, but it does not use AI auto-panning.
Pickleball currently uses baseline filming, where the camera remains in a fixed position with the full court in view.
π₯ Why Camera Setup Matters
AI tracking performs best when BallerCam has a clear view of the playing area.
For better tracking:
- Use the recommended setup location for your sport.
Keep the field, court, or rink clearly visible.
- Use an elevated camera position when recommended.
- Avoid placing the camera behind spectators, benches, equipment, poles, or other obstructions.
- Make sure BallerCam is stable throughout the game.
- Check your framing before filming begins.
Poor placement or blocked sightlines can make it more difficult for the AI to follow the action accurately.
π What Happens to the Full Camera View?
BallerCam's ultra-wide-angle lens captures a much wider view than what you normally see in the AI-tracked production.
The AI uses that wider view to determine where the action is happening and creates the Smart View that automatically follows gameplay.
After the HD recording is uploaded, supported games may also provide additional replay options that let you explore more of the original wide-angle recording.
π§ Is AI Tracking Always Perfect?
AI tracking is designed to reduce the need for manual camera operation, but results can vary depending on factors such as:
- Camera placement
- Obstructions
- Lighting
Field, court, or rink visibility.
- Player movement
- The sport being filmed
Following the recommended setup for your sport gives the AI the best opportunity to keep the action in frame.
π‘ Tips for the Best AI Tracking Experience
- Select the correct sport when creating your team.
- Follow the recommended camera placement for that sport.
- Keep the entire playing area as visible as possible.
- Avoid extreme camera angles or very low setups.
- Keep the BallerCam stable during the game.
- Make sure you are using the latest version of the BallerCam app.
- Complete the HD upload after the game for the best available replay experience.
β Key Reminders
- BallerCam uses AI-powered auto-panning to follow game action automatically.
- The ultra-wide-angle lens captures a 180-degree field of view that gives the AI room to follow the action.
AI auto-panning currently supports Basketball, Soccer, Futsal, Volleyball, Flag Football / 7v7 Football, Lacrosse, and Ice Hockey.
- Lacrosse has AI tracking specifically tuned for the sport.
- Flag Football / 7v7 auto-panning is currently in beta.
- Tackle football is not currently supported for AI auto-panning.
- Pickleball is supported in the Philippines and India with baseline filming, but without auto-panning.
- Proper camera placement and a clear view of the playing area are important for the best tracking results.
