It depends on a few factors — the sport you're filming, the size of the field or court, how far back your tripod is from the sideline, and whether you’re using a tilt adapter.
As a general rule of thumb:
- Basketball and Volleyball: 6 to 10 feet high usually works well for sideline setups.
- Soccer: 10 to 15 feet high is recommended for the best perspective and tracking.
Taller setups often produce better results, especially for fast-paced or wide-field sports like soccer. For heights above 10 feet, we strongly recommend using a tilt adapter to keep the framing aligned.
