BallerCam and XbotGo are both designed to make sports filming easier with AI-powered tracking, livestreaming, scoring, and highlight tools.
The biggest differences are in how the camera system works, the sports-focused features available in each platform, and how recordings, stats, replays, and team content are managed.
Because XbotGo offers multiple products, including the phone-based XbotGo Chameleon and the standalone-camera XbotGo Falcon, some features vary depending on which XbotGo device you're comparing with BallerCam.

π€ AI Tracking
Both BallerCam and XbotGo use AI to help keep game action in frame.
BallerCam
BallerCam supports AI auto-panning for Basketball, Soccer, Futsal, Volleyball, Flag Football / 7v7, and Lacrosse. The hardware stays stationary while BallerCam digitally pans, tilts, and zooms within the captured video to follow the action.
XbotGo
XbotGo also provides AI auto-tracking.
Its current Chameleon system uses a rotating base with a 360Β° rotation range and automatic tracking, while XbotGo's newer Falcon is an all-in-one dual-camera system with its own AI processor.
π Digital Panning vs. Moving Camera Hardware
One of the more noticeable differences is how the systems follow the game.
BallerCam
BallerCam uses a stationary physical setup with digital panning.
Because the BallerCam hardware itself does not need to continuously rotate to follow the game, there are no motorized tracking movements to manage during filming.
XbotGo
The phone-based XbotGo Chameleon uses a rotating base to physically follow play and provides controls for settings such as:
- Tracking
- Angle
- Zoom
- Movement speed
XbotGo lists a 360Β° rotating base and Β±15Β° vertical tilt for Chameleon.
The Falcon uses a different all-in-one camera design, so its hardware should be considered separately from Chameleon.
π‘ Livestreaming
Both platforms support livestreaming.
BallerCam
BallerCam lets viewers watch livestreams without requiring a paid viewer subscription.
BallerCam Pro also includes RTMP, allowing supported livestreams to be sent to:
- YouTube
- A custom external server
RTMP can be configured as a team default or separately for an individual stream.
XbotGo
XbotGo also currently advertises free livestreaming and RTMP streaming to external platforms such as YouTube and Facebook.
So external streaming is now available on both platforms.
π Physical Scoreboard Detection
One of BallerCam's sport-specific features is Scoreboard Detection.
For Basketball, BallerCam can automatically read the venue's physical scoreboard through the camera feed and detect information including:
- Home score
- Away score
- Period
- Game clock
The detected information can then appear on the livestream overlay.
BallerCam also supports Scoreboard Detection for Volleyball, including score and set information.
XbotGo currently offers real-time score overlays through its app, including scoreboard controls.
The two systems therefore both support score overlays, but their scoreboard workflows and sport-specific implementations differ.
π AI Plays for Basketball
BallerCam also includes AI Plays for Basketball.
After a recorded basketball game is processed, AI Plays can attempt to identify:
- Made shots
- Missed shots
- Layups
- Dunks
Detected plays are connected directly to their corresponding video clips.
You can browse detections by:
- Player
- Play type
- Half
BallerCam also provides an interactive Shot Chart where detected made and missed shots can be selected to jump directly to the video.
AI Plays isn't intended to replace an official box score, and detections should still be reviewed for accuracy.
π Scoring and Stats
BallerCam provides sport-specific scoring and stat tools rather than treating every sport the same.
Depending on the sport, these can include:
- Live scoring
- Player attribution
- Advanced Basketball stats
- Volleyball Point Classification
- Tag Stats
- Team Stats
- Player statistics
- Season performance
- Team Leaders
For example, Volleyball Point Classification can categorize points as:
- Kill
- Error
- Block
- Ace
and Tag Stats can add additional events after the game.
Soccer Tag Stats can include goals, shots, assists, corners, free kicks, cards, substitutions, and offsides.
Basketball Tag Stats is also available inside the BallerCam app after the gameβs HD recording has been uploaded. Basketball Box Scores provide detailed game statistics and downloadable reports that reflect the selected teams and stats.
Lacrosse supports player statistics including games played, goals, assists, and points. Flag Football / 7v7 supports scoring for touchdowns, safeties, and one- or two-point conversions. Available scoring and stat tools vary by sport.
XbotGo also provides scoring and sports-analysis features, but the specific tools available depend on the XbotGo product and sport. Its current platform advertises real-time scoreboards, AI-powered editing, highlights, and additional analysis features.
π¬ Replays and Video Review
BallerCam provides multiple ways to review a recorded game.
Smart View
An AI-tracked replay that follows the action.
Explore View
Lets viewers manually pan and zoom around the uploaded recording.
Panoramic View
Provides a wide view of the playing area, which can be useful for:
- Tactical review
- Player positioning
- Spacing
- Off-ball movement
Explore View and Panoramic View are available directly in the BallerCam app after the HD recording has been uploaded and processed.
Trim & Edit Replay lets you remove footage from the beginning, end, or middle of the published replay. You can also revert your edits.
XbotGo also provides replay, editing, highlight, and game-review tools through its app.
βοΈ Clips and Highlights
BallerCam supports several ways to find and create highlights:
- Manual clip creation
- Moments
- Scoring-based automatic clips
- Basketball AI Plays
- Player-attributed clips
- Tag Stats
For Basketball, real-time scoring from a secondary device can automatically generate a video clip for the recorded play.
Lacrosse goals generate automatic highlights, and Flag Football scoring plays can also produce shareable clips. Volleyball and Flag Football support Portrait Plays for viewing and sharing supported clips vertically after HD upload and processing.
You can like, comment on, and share clips, and receive notifications when someone likes a clip you created.
XbotGo also currently advertises automatic highlights and AI-powered editing, so highlight creation is available on both platforms.
π₯ Team and Athlete Experience
BallerCam combines filming with team-management and athlete features.
Depending on your role, BallerCam can provide:
- Team profiles
- Rosters
- Players
- Athlete Profiles
- Player claims
- Favorite Athletes
- Team Stats
- Team Leaders
- Top Plays
- Games
- Clips
- Role-based permissions
This allows the same BallerCam account to be used not only for filming, but also for managing and following teams and athletes.
βοΈ Designed for Game-Day Filming
BallerCam includes hardware features intended to support extended outdoor filming.
These include:
- An integrated cooling fan for the iPhone
- Sun/rain protection
- External power support
- Tripod mounting
The cooling system is especially useful during long games or tournaments where an iPhone may otherwise become warm while recording and livestreaming.
XbotGo's hardware varies by product. For example, the Falcon is an all-in-one camera with its own battery, while Chameleon uses a smartphone mounted to its tracking system.
π± Different Hardware Approaches
The two companies now offer somewhat different approaches to sports filming.
BallerCam
Uses a compatible iPhone as the camera, paired with BallerCam hardware and the BallerCam app.
XbotGo Chameleon
Also uses a smartphone but places it on a motorized AI tracking base.
XbotGo Falcon
Uses a dedicated all-in-one dual-lens 4K camera, so a smartphone is not required as the primary camera.
This means the most direct product comparison to BallerCam is generally the phone-based XbotGo Chameleon, while Falcon represents a different hardware category.
β Key Differences to Consider
