BallerCam now supports flag football and 7v7. You can film your game, keep score, mark key plays, and share highlight clips right from your iPhone. This guide walks you through starting a game, scoring plays, using auto-panning, marking moments, and finding your highlights afterward.
What you'll need
- The latest version of the BallerCam app on your iPhone.
- A tripod or mount for a steady, elevated view of the field (recommended).
- Optional: a second device, if you want one person to film while another runs the scoreboard.
Note: The scoring, auto-panning, and highlights described in this article are part of the Flag Football experience. When you create a team or start a game, choose Flag Football as the sport.
Start filming a game
- Open the BallerCam app.
- Create or select your team and choose Flag Football as the sport. The first time you do this, a short "Now Supporting Flag Football" notice explains what's included.
- Add your roster so scoring plays and clips are credited to the right players.
- Choose your filming setup: Sideline with Auto Panning (set up near the sideline at midfield) or a static camera (for end-zone or custom field setups). Position the phone for an elevated, centered view, then start the game.
Score your game
BallerCam includes football-specific scoring. During the game, tap to add a score, choose the play, and select the player who made it. The scoreboard updates instantly for anyone watching live.
Available scoring plays:
- TD — Touchdown (6 points)
- Safety (2 points)
- EP +2 — Extra Point, two-point conversion (2 points)
- EP +1 — Extra Point (1 point)
Each score can be attributed to a player on your roster and assigned to the correct period. Games default to halves, and quarters are also supported.
Scoring from a second device
Want to keep filming hands-free? You can run the scoreboard from a second device while the first one films and auto-pans. To set it up:
- Open the BallerCam app on the second device.
- Make sure that device has scoring permissions.
- Tap Start Game when you're ready.
Auto-panning (AI tracking)
BallerCam's AI auto-panning follows the action for you, so you don't have to pan the camera by hand. For the best results, set up near the sideline at midfield. See the ideal setup instructions for flag football here.
Please note: AI tracking is currently in beta. We're making improvements to the tracking in the coming weeks, so please use it at your own risk. It's built for flag and 7v7 formats and is not ready for tackle football yet, because tackle uses different formations and a larger field.
Mark key plays with Moments
Tap the 🔥 Moments button during the game to bookmark any play you want to keep, such as a great catch, a long run, or a defensive stop. Marked moments are easy to find and share after the game.
Find your highlights after the game
When the game ends, BallerCam automatically generates clips of every scoring play, along with the Moments you marked. Scoring clips include the buildup to the play, not just the score itself. You can review, download, and share everything from the game's detail screen.
Frequently asked questions
What about 7v7?
You can film 7v7 games and capture highlight clips with BallerCam. The point-by-point scoreboard described here (touchdowns, extra points, and safeties) is part of the Flag Football sport, so if you want that live scoring experience, set your game up as Flag Football.
Does BallerCam support tackle football?
Not yet. Flag football and 7v7 are supported today. Auto-panning isn't ready for tackle football because of its different formations and field size.
How accurate is auto-tracking?
It's in beta and improving regularly. For important games, consider using two-device scoring or having someone nearby to adjust the framing if needed.
Can two people run the game together?
Yes. One device films and auto-pans while a second device runs the scoreboard.
What point values can I record?
Touchdown (6), Safety (2), Extra Point +2 (2), and Extra Point +1 (1).
Where do my highlights go?
Clips of scoring plays and your marked Moments are generated automatically and appear on the game's detail screen after the game ends.
