Every game, practice, or drill you film with BallerCam is recorded locally in 1080p HD on your iPhone, whether you choose to livestream or record only.

Uploading that HD recording after the game gives your team the best replay experience, unlocks additional replay modes, improves clip quality, and frees up local storage on the filming iPhone.

☁️ What Happens When You Upload?

During filming, BallerCam keeps a high-quality recording directly on the filming iPhone.

When you upload the game, BallerCam sends that HD recording to the BallerCam Cloud so it can be processed and made available for replay.

After a successful upload, viewers can access the highest-quality version of the game and supported additional replay features.

🎥 1. Get the Best Replay Quality

Livestreams are broadcast at up to 720p to help balance video quality with connection reliability.

At the same time, BallerCam records a 1080p HD version locally on the filming iPhone.

For a livestreamed game:

• The filmer can access the local 1080p recording.
• Other viewers initially see the livestream replay at up to 720p.
• After the HD recording is uploaded, the replay upgrades to 1080p HD for everyone.

Uploading is therefore an important final step if you want viewers to see the highest-quality version of your game.

📡 2. Replace Livestream Interruptions With the Local Recording

Livestream quality depends on the internet connection available at the venue.

A weak or unstable connection can cause:

• Buffering
• Skipped video
• Temporary stream interruptions
• Reduced livestream quality

The local HD recording on your iPhone is recorded separately from the livestream and is not affected by those internet interruptions.

Uploading the local recording allows BallerCam to use the complete HD version for the replay, even if the live broadcast experienced connection problems.

Uploading is especially important when you choose Record Only instead of Live Stream. 

For a Record Only game:

• The filmer can access the local recording after filming.
• Other viewers cannot watch the game until it has been uploaded.

If you recorded a game without livestreaming, uploading is what makes the replay available to your team and other viewers.

Panoramic View also requires the HD recording to be uploaded and processed.

Note: Explore View and Panoramic View are available directly in the BallerCam app after the HD recording has been uploaded and processed. Web availability depends on your device and browser.

✂️ 5. Improve Your Clips and Highlights

Uploading the HD recording improves the video source available for clips created from the game.

This includes:

• Clips generated from scoring plays
• Manually created clips
• Player highlights
• Other clips created from the uploaded game

Using the uploaded HD recording gives your team a higher-quality source for reviewing and sharing important moments. After HD upload and processing, supported Basketball, Volleyball, and Flag Football clips can be viewed as Portrait Plays—a vertical format that's easy to share.

📱 6. Free Up Storage on Your iPhone

HD video files can take up a significant amount of space on the filming iPhone.

Uploading transfers the game's HD recording to BallerCam Cloud.

Once the upload completes successfully, the local HD file can be removed automatically from the device, helping free up space for future games.

BallerCam Cloud storage is separate from your iPhone's local storage and is subject to the total cloud-storage allowance included with your BallerCam plan. 

🏀 7. Use Basketball Tag Stats in the App

After uploading your Basketball game's HD recording, you can use Tag Stats inside the BallerCam app to tag and edit replay events in portrait or landscape. This includes games with imported Smart Plays.

📤 Where to Find Your Upload

After you finish filming, your game can appear under Recently Filmed on Global Home.

Depending on the game's current status, you may see actions such as:

• Upload
• Processing
• Watch Replay

Tap Upload when you're ready to send the local HD recording to BallerCam.

⏳ What Happens After You Tap Upload?

Once the upload begins, the recording needs time to transfer and process.

During this process, you may see the game's status change from:

Upload → Processing → Watch Replay

The amount of time required can vary depending on:

• Video length
• File size
• Your internet upload speed
• Connection stability
• Processing time

Keeping a reliable connection available helps the upload complete more smoothly.

For Basketball games, completed AI Plays remain available while HD processing continues. You can review plays that are already ready without waiting for all processing to finish. Player and jersey attribution may appear later as processing continues.

📶 Do I Need Wi-Fi to Upload?

You do not have to be connected to Wi-Fi to upload, but a reliable Wi-Fi connection is recommended for better speed and stability.

Large game recordings can take significant time and data to upload, so Wi-Fi is usually the best option when available.

⏸️ Can I Pause an Upload?

Yes.

BallerCam allows you to pause and resume an upload.

If you need to leave the current network or wait for a stronger connection, you can resume the upload later rather than starting the entire process over.

📲 Should I Keep BallerCam Open?

For the fastest upload performance, keep the BallerCam app open while the upload is running.

Uploads can continue in the background, but they may progress more slowly.

For larger recordings, you may also find it convenient to upload when you won't need to use the phone for an extended period.

💾 Make Sure You Have Enough Storage

Uploading requires temporary working space on your iPhone while the video is being processed.

Before starting a large upload:

• Check your available iPhone storage.
• Keep enough free space for the recording and upload process.
• Avoid deleting the local recording before the upload finishes successfully.

Local iPhone storage and BallerCam Cloud storage are separate. BallerCam Cloud also has a total storage limit based on your plan.

⚠️ What If I Don't Upload?

What happens depends on how the game was filmed.

If You Livestreamed

The livestream replay remains available to viewers at its initial quality, but without the HD upload:

• The replay does not upgrade to the uploaded 1080p HD version.
• Explore View remains unavailable.
• Panoramic View remains unavailable.
• You don't receive the full benefits of the HD source file.

If You Used Record Only

The game remains available locally to the filmer, but other viewers cannot access the replay until the recording is uploaded.

For the smoothest upload experience:

• Upload your game as soon as practical after filming.
• Use a strong, stable Wi-Fi connection when available.
• Keep the BallerCam app open for faster uploading.
• Make sure your iPhone has enough free local storage.
• Keep your phone connected to power during long uploads.
• Avoid deleting the recording until the upload has completed successfully.
• If an upload is interrupted, use Resume when you're ready to continue.
• Wait for processing to finish before reviewing the final HD replay or additional replay modes.
